To find this young talent, the I-banks send their manicured young bankers out to the Whartons, Harvards and Princetons of the world to roll out the red carpet for the top undergraduates and begin the process of destroying whatever noble ideals the youngsters have left.
The wire services released the story first. It was quickly picked up and parroted by almost every major media outlet in the country as a classic example of Wall Street excess. A fifty-eight-year-old frustrated managing director from Trust Company of the West, on an airplane trip from Buenos Aires to New York City, downed an excessive number of cocktails, got out of his seat in the first-class cabin of a United Airlines flight, dropped his pants, and took a crap on the service cart.

They are all meaningful and clever, and together with the commentary underneath, they are sure to entertain and amaze. This book is about idioms. Each page features one idiom and invites your child to decipher its meaning.
I absolutely Wow, just wow! I absolutely love the way it engages your child's brain and imagination, being fun and didactic at the same time. Plus - this being a Monkey Business - there is a monkey hidden on every page, but you don't know this until the very end, so once you get to the last page, you immediately want to flip back to the beginning and read the book again, just so you can spot each hiding monkey!
This is definitely a keeper. Love it. I love Graeme Base's books for children, so I was excited to find books in a similar style, by a Canadian author no less!
Edwards seems to share my sense of humour, as this book takes common idioms "playing by ear" is my favourite and illustrates them with clever pictures. This isn't the kind of book that follows a storyline - nor is it meant to - but rather includes a caption with each individual picture.
Probably not something that will capture the interest of a very small child, but clever, I love Graeme Base's books for children, so I was excited to find books in a similar style, by a Canadian author no less!
Probably not something that will capture the interest of a very small child, but clever, funny and beautifully realized. Nov 20, Jessica rated it it was ok Shelves: children-s-books. I enjoyed Mr. Edwards creative interpretation of idioms in his art work and the art work itself. But the book was not that interesting to my kids. In fact, as I was reading it they asked, "when will it be over?
I don't like it. At the end of the book he lists all the idioms he used and what they really mean which I enjoyed because now my kids know what "fish out of water," bull in a china shop," dog-eat-dog," and many more idioms mean.

Shelves: children-s-books. Very clever. Be sure and look for a monkey on every page. Some of them are tricky. The illustrations are just fabulous, incredible and funny. I caught myself laughing out loud on several of them. I loved, "Willy seemed to attract misfortune, but Bill was a lucky duck. Check it out at your local library. Jul 25, JustOneMoreBook. May 04, Jennifer rated it it was amazing. This is such a fun book. It uses artwork to describe idioms. The illustration is amazing and it is a book that makes you chuckle.
I recommend this book to any adult who gets bored reading childish books. Both children and parents will enjoy this one. Oct 12, Gail rated it it was ok Shelves: children-s-books. I just don't like this style of illustration, where it is so detailed, especially in the skin, that the animals look dirty.
I'm not sure what age this book would appeal too, either. Not two year olds. Sep 07, Sarah rated it really liked it Shelves: picture-books. You're leaving me, Steven. I don't want you to feel guilty about it, you have your life to live, I know.
But when you're gone, what will I do? I wanted to say 'You'll be able to see your friends more' or 'You can start dating again', as if she wasn't doing those things because of me. But we both knew it had nothing to do with me. Then I won't be alone, not really. I wasn't sure I really wanted to go into the details, but part of me was morbidly curious, so I asked anyway.
How're you I suspected mine was too. Mom shook her head. My insurance won't cover that sort of procedure, especially if I'm, ah, that is to say. Not if I can conceive I'm sure you'll find Mom finished the washing up during my dazzling soliloquy and stared at the floor as she dried her hands.
I went up to my own room and tried to think of anything apart from that morning's conversation. Eventually, I succeeded. I hadn't quite foreseen how much preparation was involved in leaving home for the first time. I also had my friends to see as much as possible before we scattered across the land.
Unlike my mother I did manage to have a group of close friends, and intended to stay in touch with them. I should also probably point out that I didn't inherit my mother's looks. Thank you, dad! I'd even landed myself a girlfriend, Cassie, during my final year of high school. We'd done quite a lot of heavy petting in my car, and I'd even gone down on her a few times, but my cherry remained thoroughly intact.
When she asked to meet me a month before college started I let myself believe that this was the night. It turned out she didn't want to fuck me, she actually wanted to break up with me. There would be lots of girls at college, she told me, and she didn't want me to feel beholden to a girl on the other side of the country.
I suspected it wasn't my freedom to fuck around that she was trying to ensure, but I decided not to pursue it. I smiled, nodded, said the right things and got out of there. It was probably for the best.
Cassie and I got on just fine but I'd never really felt anything for her other than a teenage desire to get off. My preparations for college may have been going apace, but my mom's attempts to find a willing sperm donor were going nowhere. We hadn't discussed it since that first chat in the kitchen, but I knew mom hadn't left home for anything more than grocery shopping since then, and I was pretty sure no one had been around while I was out with my friends or my now ex-girlfriend.
I'd wondered how my mom was trying to find someone willing to get her pregnant, and with about three weeks to go before I left I stumbled upon the answer. I'd been on Craigslist, trying to sell some stuff I'd no longer need and buy a couple of items that I was lacking. I'd arranged most of what I needed when, on a whim, I decided to check out the personals section for my town.
Hell, maybe Suzie from high school was on there begging for a one night stand. I'd always had a thing for Suzie. Suzie was not on Craigslist. My mother was. The entry itself didn't give much more than that, other than to say the man would not be expected to be involved with the baby when it was born, and to provide a link to a photo.
If my mother was trying to entice men then the photo was perfectly chosen to have the exact opposite effect. It was a close up of just my mom's face in all its glory. To be honest the whole entry looked like a joke.
In a town the size of ours I doubted that many people would even see it, and those that did would not be tempted. I did not hold out much hope for my mom's success. With just two weeks before I started college my mom was still carrying as many babies as she had been for the last eighteen years. Namely none. I thought she might give up on the idea and buy a cat, or maybe just persevere beyond those two weeks. The deadline was self imposed and I didn't think it would really matter if she didn't get pregnant for a while longer.
My mom had other ideas. I was sat at the kitchen table drinking an orange juice while my mom washed up the dishes from breakfast.May 15, · In addition, Rawlings owns an interest in a Gas Monkey fuel dragster, a mph vehicle that can burn through thousands of dollars in one afternoon.
